About the villa
Les Marjolaines is a gorgeous Provencal style house which is located into the hillside of a private residential estate, 5 minutes drive from the medieval hilltop village of Tourtour in the Haut Var region of Southern France.
The house has a secluded private garden, its own infinity pool (10 x 5m) and enjoys wonderful unspoilt panoramic views over the sun drenched Provencal countryside. This private estate which stretches to 300 acres is a safe environment for a family holiday and benefits from good roads, street lighting, four hard tennis courts (free of charge to our guests), a lake, lovely woodland walks and a large communal pool (24 x 12m). There are 2 restaurants within walking distance of the villa and many more in nearby Tourtour. It is a very peaceful, quiet area and although we have neighbours, the only noise very often is the sound of the varied bird population!
Les Marjolaines is perfect both summer and winter holidays. Off season there is full central heating and a wood burning fire.
The house has plenty of private parking for up to three cars. The accommodation is all on one level and comprises of a large sitting/dining area, four bedrooms (two double, two twin), two bathrooms, a very well equipped kitchen and a built-in barbeque. A travel cot and highchair are also available.
The house has recently been refurbished and decorated with delightful Provencal fabrics. It is a real "home from home"!
Sitting/Dining Room
This lovely bright room with high ceiling and oak beams has two comfortable sofas, coffee table, large oak dining table with eight chairs, sideboard, bookshelves(full of books), cupboards and desk. There is a satellite TV with all British programmes and digital freeview, a DVD and CD player. There is a large selection of board games, DVDs and CDs for all guests to enjoy. The sitting room has a large open fireplace which can be used as a wood burning stove and logs are provided off season. French doors lead from the sitting room to a glazed terrace with comfortable seating and built-in barbeque.
Kitchen
The delightful Provencal fitted kitchen is a gourmet paradise with every possible kitchen utensil and tool to be found as well as all the basic ingredients required for cooking. There is an abundance of crockery, cutlery, glassware and serving dishes for 8 people. A picnic basket and cool bag are provided, plus various baskets for shopping at the Provencal markets! The kitchen has a washing machine, dishwasher, microwave, large fridge freezer, electric oven and ceramic hobs. An iron and ironing board are provided as well as a drying rack and washing lines in the garden. Each bedroom has its own hairdrier.
Cookery books and recipes are available for your use. You need go no further than Tourtour for all supplies. The local market providing seasonal fruit,veg and butcher meat is on Wednesday and Saturday and the village shop provides all essentials.
Bedrooms and Bathrooms
There are four bedrooms and two bathrooms. The master bedroom hosts a king sized bed, fitted wardrobes, large chest of drawers, comfortable sofa and large mirror. A hairdryer is available for guests to use.
Two of the bedrooms have twin beds and the fourth bedroom has a double bed. One of the twin rooms and the smaller double have French windows opening on to the front terrace. These two bedrooms share a shower room. The main bathroom has a bath with shower above, two hand basins and a bidet. There is a separate W.C. The bedrooms all have fitted wardrobes and spacious chest of drawers.
100% white cotton linen, fluffy white towels and pool towels are provided for every guest.
Outside
There are eight sun loungers and a small bistro style table with four chairs. There is also a large wooden table with ten chairs
The terraces beside the house are shady for those who do not like the hot sun, and sunny terraces around the pool for those who do!
In the store adjacent to the house, you will find cushions for the sun loungers as well as picnic chairs and a folding table which can easily be transported in the car. This is great picnic country - real food, picked up from the market en route! Head for the lake, the gorge or perhaps the lavender fields in June and July. The abbey at St Thoronet is a peaceful retreat and the white beaches of the coast are just over an hour away.
